A neglected oven smokes, smells and makes every tray taste of last Sunday's roast. Professional oven cleaning is a different job from a weekly kitchen wipe: we take the door, racks and liners out, treat burnt-on fat until it releases, and put the cavity back together so you can cook the same evening without a chemical haze hanging over the hob.
Here is the process we follow on a typical single-oven visit in a London or Northampton kitchen. First we protect neighbouring cabinets and the floor, then we remove racks, trays, side liners and the inner glass where the manufacturer allows it. Heavy carbon on the roof and floor gets a dwell time with a professional degreaser chosen to work without filling the room with fumes. We do not use caustic oven bombs that pit enamel or leave a residue you would rather not eat off. After the soil has lifted we agitate, rinse and wipe until a white cloth stays white on the enamel, seals and glass. Trays and racks are cleaned separately so the cavity is not washed with the same dirty water. We dry, refit every part, and finish with a food-safe wipe of the fascia, handle and control panel.
A double oven, range or range-style cooker takes longer because there are two cavities, more liners and often a grill pan that has never been truly clean. Hobs, pan supports, extractor filters and microwave interiors can be added to the same booking so the whole cooking zone is done in one visit. If a filter is not designed to come out, we will tell you rather than force it.
Most domestic single ovens are priced at £75. Double ovens, range cookers and AGAs are listed separately, and add-ons such as the hob, extractor or microwave are itemised before you checkout. There is no call-out fee on top of the booked price.
We work in occupied homes. You do not need to empty the kitchen or stay for the visit. Leave pets in another room, and tell us about self-cleaning pyrolytic cycles that have already been run — they help, they do not replace a manual degrease of racks and glass. After we leave, wait until surfaces are fully dry before turning the oven on, then heat it empty for a few minutes with a window open the first time. That burns off any remaining moisture, not a coating of product.
What we do not do is paint over dirt, run a cheap overnight foam and call it done, or pull a built-in oven out of a housing unless you have booked a specialist disconnect. If the door glass is a sealed unit we cannot split, we clean every accessible face and say so on the visit note. If carbon has baked into pitted enamel, we will get it as close to clean as the surface allows and recommend a second pass rather than grind the coating off.
Plan around cooking: an evening roast the night before is fine; a cake in the oven when we arrive is not. Wipe crumbs from the hob so we can protect it, and empty the grill pan. If you want the microwave, dishwasher fascia or warming drawer included, add them on the quote so the cleaner brings time for those extra cavities.
If you are moving out, the oven is one of the first things an inventory clerk photographs. Booking it as a specialist job rather than hoping a general end-of-tenancy list will catch the roof of the cavity is the reliable way to avoid a re-clean deduction. The same applies before you sell: a clean cooker photographs well and tells a buyer the kitchen has been looked after.
Confirm the live total from your postcode when you book. There is no extra call-out fee on top of the quoted price.

No. Many clients leave a key or lockbox, the same as a regular house visit. Keep children and pets out of the kitchen until surfaces are dry.
Yes. Tell us the make if you know it, and whether there is a separate grill. The live quote rises with extra cavities and liners rather than surprising you on the day.
£75 covers a typical single domestic oven: cavity, door glass, racks and trays. Hobs, extractors, microwaves and second cavities are added as extras on the quote form.
We use professional degreasers that work without a roomful of fumes, then rinse to a food-safe finish. We do not leave a caustic coating behind. Ventilate after the visit and heat the empty oven once before the next roast.
Yes. Tick those extras when you book so we bring the right time and kit. Removable extractor filters are washed; fixed ones are wiped rather than forced apart.
